Uploading Your Home Page

PLEASE NOTE: Your webpage address will be http://www.linknet.com.au/yourloginname

PLEASE NOTE: This service has limited online support only.

These instructions show how to upload the home page you have written to your webspace on Linknet using WS_FTP LE. You are free to use whichever FTP program you like, however if you have never uploaded a web page before, we recommend using WS_FTP LE as it is very easy to use.

Before you Start
You need to make sure your webspace has been enabled by us before you can upload your page. If you are sure it has been, then go ahead. If it has not been, or you are not sure, email Support at
support@linknet.com.au.

Setting up WS_FTP LE
After downloading and installing WS_FTP LE from here , you will need to set up the program as shown in the following two images.

On the General tab: Put your Linknet username and password in the specified area (this is the same username and password you use to dialin to Linknet)

On the Startup tab: Do not put anything in the Initial Remote Directory. When you log in with your username and password, it will take you directly to your home directory. Just upload your files here.

Once you have connected properly you should be able to upload files by selecting them in the "local" side of the screen, then clicking the arrow pointing to the right to transfer them to the remote side.

You can also make remote directories and upload to them as well. This allows you to have subpages within your homepage. For example, if you wanted http://www.linknet.com.au/yourname/cars/ you should upload to /cars for it to show.

Once properly uploaded, you can view your homepage on the internet by typing http://www.linknet.com.au/yourusername into your internet browser (replace yourusername with your Linknet username).

Common Questions

  • I uploaded my page, but I can not see it!
Make sure that the first page of your site is named index.htm or index.html in lowercase. If they are not, the server does not know which page is the first page. It is also case sensitive, so it must be in lowercase letters.
  • I do not like WS_FTP, I want to use something else, what do I do?
You can use whatever program you like to upload your page. Just use www.linknet.com.au as the server name, log in with your username and password.
