OE Hangs Up while Sending or Receiving
mail
This problem is caused by a common Outlook Express misconfiguration
which causes the program to try to switch to a non-existant or incorrect
dialup connection, or just hangup, whenever you try to send and
receive email. To fix it:
- Go to the Tools menu in Outlook Express and click on Options
- Click on the Connection or Dialup tab
- Make sure that Ask/Warn before switching dial-up connections
is ticked
- Make sure that Hang up after sending and receiving is NOT ticked
- Click OK
- Click the Tools menu
- Click Accounts
- Click on the Mail tab
- You should have one account only, being for your Linknet email.
If you have more than one, check to see if you need them all and
remove those you do not
- Double click the Linknet email account (may be called "pop.linknet.co..."
but depends on how you originally set it up)
- Click the Connection tab
- Remove the tick from the box marked Always connect to this
account using (if you are using OE 4 or Outlook 2000, select Use
Internet Explorer or a third party dialer)
- Click OK
- Click Close
