It is not uncommon to experience initial problems accessing secure
sites such as Netbanking, share trading or shopping sites. Often,
you need to have your browser set up in a certain way for them work.
The first thing that you should do is make sure that your proxies
are turned off.
If you can not find the options detailed there, or they are set
correctly and it still is not working, you should also make sure
that you are using the latest version of your browser.
- For Internet Explorer, the current version is v7.0 . Go to Windows Update at: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
to download and install it. While you are there, make sure that
you have all of the Critical Updates installed, as well as the
128-bit encryption update.
- Firefox users should make sure that they are using the latest release. This is currently v2.0.0.x and can be downloaded
from Here.
If it is still not working, make sure that all the security options
are enabled. To do this:
- For Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu and choose Internet
Options. Click on the Security tab, then click on the Internet
icon in the top box. Click the Default Level button. Then click
on the Advanced tab, and under the Security section down the bottom,
make sure that Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0 and Use TLS 1.0 are all
ticked.
- For Firefox, go to the Tools menu and choose
Options.Click on Advanced, then click on encryption and select both
protocols listed.
If after all that you are still having problems, check with the
help files or the support team for the site, as they might have
certain requirements for use of the site (for example, if the site
only supports TLS encryption,
